Bakers Volunteer Fire Department is Awarded Grant from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation
Mon. Apr 13th 2015

The Bakers Volunteer Fire Department has recently been notified that they will be the recipients of a grant that will provide the department with new equipment. In January 2015 BVFD applied for the grant offered by the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.  On April 6th, we were advised that we were chosen to receive a grant for two SCOTT Eagle thermal imaging cameras valued at over $15,000.
The members and command staff of the fire department are extremely excited about the news of the new equipment. This equipment will replace an aged thermal imaging camera that is no longer able to be serviced or repaired should it malfunction, as well as place a thermal imaging camera on our second engine company, allowing the apparatus to be laid out in similar manners. This generous donation by the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation will help us continue to provide an excellent standard of service in our rapidly growing community. We are extraordinarily grateful to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation for continue to be a proactive fire department.
The Bakers Volunteer Fire Department is a primarily volunteer agency supplemented with part time shifts to ensure a staffed station 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  In addition to responding to fire calls, the department also responds as first responders at the EMT Basic level on medical emergencies, in addition to operating a medium duty rescue company.
