In early 2016 Bakers Volunteer Fire Department underwent a routine inspection from the North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal. On June 23rd we were notified that this inspection resulted in an improvement of the district rating from a 6/9E to a 4/9E. This system is scored on a scale of one to ten with one being the highest rating possible. Bakers Volunteer Fire Department was notified this week that we will be receiving a donation of EpiPen and EpiPen Jr. auto-injectors to replace our current stock that will soon be expiring. This will be the second year we have received this generous donation from Mylan. This donation saves the department several thousand dollars every year it is received. The Bakers Volunteer Fire Department has recently been notified that they will be the recipients of a grant that will provide the department with new equipment. In January 2015 BVFD applied for the grant offered by the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. Mylan Inc., the manufacturer of EpiPens has graciously donated a year's supply of EpiPens and Epi JRs to Bakers Fire Department. Monday August 25th at 1900hrs is Bakers VFD's annual business meeting. All members are highly encouraged to attend as several board positions are up for renewal and any other department business/changes will be discussed/announced.
We would like to thank Kidde Fire Safety for their generosity in donating a case of CO detectors. These detectors will allow us to expand our current Fire Prevention and Life Safety program in the community we so proudly serve.
For the past several years the men and women of Bakers Fire Department have relied on Bayer Contour Glucometers to help diagnose and treat diabetic emergencies. In an effort to ensure that we continue to deliver the best quality of medical care BVFD has arranged for Bayer HealthCare to donate a shipment of new glucometers, making sure we always have the latest technology available.
The Bakers Volunteer Fire Department has had the privilege of serving since 1956. We take great pride in being a part of such a wonderful community.
